Formed in: 1924, meeting at the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de la (Latin) Basílica del Espíritu Santo Mission established in: 1942 at the present location, under the patronage of Nuestra Señora de La Paz Parish erected in: 1971 as Parroquia Armenio-Catolic de Nuestra Señora de Nuestra Elevated in: 1981 to Cathedral status, as Catedral Armenia de Nuestra Señora de Narek.

Decent Bearing in Armenian Churches

Each Christian should go to church especially on Sundays and holidays and take part in Surb Patarag (means-Holy Liturgy). 

·       Cross yourself when entering a church

·       Don’t make noise and/or run in church.

·       Women should enter the church with covered head and men-without hat.

·       Don’t crosse one leg over the other in the church.

·       It’s desirable to take part at the ceremonies from the beginning but if you are late enter without making noise.

·       Don’t turn your back to Surb Khoran (Holy Altar). Your glace should be directed to Surb Khoran (Holy Altar).

·       Don’t put hands on your back.

·       As the church is a place for prayer, it isn’t allowed to talk about unnecessary stuff.  

·       When you see a priest welcome him according to his rank:

for married priests: “Orhnya ter” (means "Bless God")

for monk (unmarried priests): “Astvats ognakan” (means "God helps, God with you")

·       Don’t enter church if you are drunk.

·       Don’t enter church with weapon.

·       Enter church with decent cloths (women should wear long skirts).

·       It isn’t allowed to chew a gum, smoke or eat in church.

·       It isn't allowed to insert the animal for sacrifice into the church.

·       Keep silence in order not to disturb the praying atmosphere of the church.

·       Switch off your cell-phone or turn it to the (silent regime) silent ringer

·       When coming out of a church turn to the Surb Khoran (Holy Altar), cross yourself and then exit the church.

Եկեղեցու պատշաճ կեցվածք

Ամեն մի ճշմարիտ քրիստոնիայի պարտքն է հաճախել եկեղեցի, մանավանդ կիրակի և տոն օրերին, մասնակցելու Սուրբ Պատարագին։

·       Եկեղեցի մտնելիս պետք է խաչակնքվել։

·       Եկեղեցում չ´աղմկել և չ´վազվզել։

·       Կանայք եկեղեցի մտնեն գլխաշորով, իսկ տղամարդիկ՝ գլխաբաց։

·       Եկեղեցում ոտքը ոտքին գցած չնստել։

·       Արարողություններին ցանկալի է ներկա լինել սկզբից, իսկ հարգելի պատճառով ուշանալու դեպքում, մտնել անաղմուկ։

·       Եկեղեցում Սուրբ Խորանի առաջ մեջքով չկանգնել։ Հավատացյալի հայացքը պետք է ուղղված լինի դեպի Սուրբ Խորանը։

·       Ձեռքերը մեջքին չբռնել։

·       Քանի որ եկեղեցին աղոտքի տուն է, ուստի պատշաճ չէ եկեղեցում պարապ խոսակցություններ վարել։

·       Հոգևորականներին հանդիպելիս պետք է ողջունել ըստ իրենց կարգի

ամուսնացյալ քահանաներին՝ «Օրհնյա տեր»,

կուսակրոն քահանաներին՝ «Աստված օգնական»։

·       Արգելվում է հարբած վիճակում եկեղեցի մտնել։

·       Արգելվում է զենքով եկեղեցի մտնել։

·       Եկեղեցում արգելվում է անպատշաճ հագուստ կրել (Աստվածահաճո է, որ կանայք երկար շրջազգեստ կրեն)։

·       Եկեղեցում արգելվում է ծամոն ծամել, ծխել կամ որևէ բան ուտել։

·       Մատաղի համար նախատեսված կենդանին արգելվում է եկեղեցի մտցնել։

·       Պաշտպանել կատարյալ լռություն չխախտելու համար եկեղեցու աղոթանվեր մթնոլորտը։

·       Անջատել բջջային հեռախոսը կամ անցում կատարել անձայն ռեժիմի։

·       Եկեղեցուց դուրս գալիս դեմքով դառնալ դեպի Սուրբ Խորանը, խաչակնքվել ապա դուրս գալ։
